Registering the Right Support was published in June 2017 by CQC. Within the Scope and Purpose of the document, it is referred to as a ‘policy statement’. Having spoken to several colleagues, there appears to be a consensus that as the regulator, CQC is intended to act in that capacity, but not as a ‘policy maker’. Bio Camilla Trimble is a respected and notable figure in social care, with over 30 years in the sector Camilla is a great Advocate for care providers across the country. Camilla wanted to create a forum where other Outstanding care homes could meet to discuss and share best practice. Following the “Outstanding” rating from her home, she was keen to be able to develop a relationship with others who have achieved this rating She floated the idea past Care England’s chief executive, Professor Martin Green, who thoroughly endorsed the idea and offered to support it. He proposed 3 other Outstanding providers join Camilla to form the Core Group and they have met up to bring together the foundations of the Society, representing a broad spectrum across learning disability, dementia, residential and nursing care. The core group comprised of James Rycroft Manging Director of Vida Healthcare, Russell Leese Director of Operations, Horizon Healthcare, Zoe Bates owner & Manager, Valarie Manor. At the Outstanding Society we recognise the responsibility that we as Outstanding providers hold. Our goal is to identify ways of disseminating Outstanding best practice to our colleagues in the industry. The Society intends to develop a mentoring scheme for services in need of some extra support, as well as offering general advice to all providers. The group also hope to act as a voice for the sector, creating opportunities to provide feedback on challenging issues such as safeguarding and consistency in reporting and inspections. The Outstanding Society works closely with Care England, Care Quality Commission and Skills for Care, their continued support has been influential. The Outstanding Society wants to celebrate the successes but also be able to support other homes to achieve the same. We want to take a collaborative approach, in raising the profile of the care sector across the country. We encourage all care homes that have been rated as Outstanding to attend our meetings, share good practice and take away new ideas and initiatives.
