I have in nearly 40 yrs wasted much time on mandatory training. That is not to say I think it is a waste of time, but the number of times I have done the same thing is excessive! Paperless care, does not sit well with me. It was being trial-ed. As a qualified nurse I had a personal log in, and after handover I had a smart phone and there I had to record all for my patients. I found the obstructions to providing care in the way I felt it should be done was impeded by the system. Nurse bank staffing in many hospitals is not maximising the potential. I am sure there are many people like myself that want to keep clinical hours but either have a management post, care responsibility, or a sick daughter or whatever. And cultivating them means a reserve of staff that can be used when needed. But nurse bank staffing is sometimes poorly run, not inclusive, it is often better run from the teams for which they work.
