One thing I've experienced within Trusts, and extremely recently, is the inefficiency of mandatory training software. Such systems are often plagued with confusing or poorly designed user interfaces, overly complex, technical or inefficient systems for 'finding' online courses. For example, in one experience; you log in to a generic staff portal, have to search for a tiny link called 'mandatory training', go to your training home page, click on 'look up courses', then type in a specific...

In order to make the NHS more efficient, I believe there should be a nationwide inventory and sharing scheme for second hand equipment. Currently, when NHS Trusts replace hardware, especially computing hardware, they typically pass the technology on to be recycled, which simply means it gets broken up for parts and turned into scrap. This is, of course, both inefficient, costly and environmentally unsound. The equipment isn't resold as there are concerns it might contain patient...

Measuring success can come in many format, for many different areas. Measuring the success of the individual staff member is fundamentally different from measuring the success of a Trust, or what goal it can meet. One of the key issues with mandatory workplace training within the NHS is it's conducted in the most bureaucratic, hamfisted way possible, often offers little in the way of useful information and, even worse, tends to contain information already known or fairly obvious. It's evidently a legal-backside covering exercise. For example, if one was to attend a fire safety course, they would have to first re-register(!) with a mandatory training website if new to the Trust, find the course in...

A digital platform to hear views by DHSC is a good start, however all healthcare providers need a centralised means to submit suggestions for improvements across a wide array of topics, not merely on the topics they want to hear, including reducing costs and improving efficiency, outcomes, and more. These submission platforms need a means to indicate what is or is not being done in response, and why or why not. Too often, I've had many suggestions for a Trust, but nowhere to propose them...
