"Cost repels care" Why do the Government find it so impossible to simply redirect the financial resources that appear to be available to fund private 'care' companies profit margins to please their shareholders, instead of the Carers who would prefer to provide loving tender expert care to the members of their families who have long-term chronic illnesses? I suggest that compassion and care that are meted out by family members is subjective, so it can not and will not be valued as a valid...

Visible leadership at all times with a focus on the environment. The environment shapes the culture of the workplace. Financial resources should be made available to create a healing, compassionate environment, that incorporates natural light and an arboretum for both staff and service users. Time between admission and discharge should flow transparently as financial resources would be available for what use to be called 'Convalescent Homes'. Convalescent Homes would be able to provide to...

Here is a novel idea...The Government should  pass a Law immediately  that would proclaim that  all Registered nurses at Band 5 would  be paid the current "Bank Rates" of £17 - 23/hr instead of the current objectionable 'McDonalds' rate of £11.00/hr that a Permanent Registered Nurse member of Staff with an Honours Degree after three years training is expected to be thankful for. This bold revolutionary action by any Government in power, allowing this appreciative remuneration, would turn...

provide access to equipment and technology that helps staff do their job and managers run the organisations well. Four years ago, I returned to the NHS to work as a nurse.  I was offered the position in August and did not start til December. Four years later, at another NHS Employer I applied to and offered the nurse position in September and  yet am still waiting to start work.  Thirty years ago, the recruitment process for nurses took a mere four weeks, regardless of seniority....

The banding system was suppose to equalise the work that is performed in the NHS. Instead the banding has merely prioritised bureaucracy over a clinical profession reflected in this pernicious comparison between basic job descriptions. A job description for a Band 5 Nurse omits the following - Honours Degree, £120.00 a year registration payment, continuous professional development and revalidation every three years all requirements for the privilege of "..'...short staffing, high acuity...

More productivity with less cost ?  Find the 20% of the most productive sector of the NHS that creates the 80% cost effectiveness, efficiency and good patient experience. A win/win situation. I would humbly suggest that the 20% comprise of the health staff, so would it not make sense to put only clinical staff back in overall control of the NHS?  Would the banking sector allow non- banking managers be in charge of their organisation after the 2008 financial crisis. It would not work would...

The Government must mandate that NHS Trusts would be legally accountable if their staff do not take their 'unpaid breaks.' Staff should be disciplined if they do not take their break as they will be at a higher risk of making a fatal mistake, for example, a drug error. Also they will be more prone to take 'sick days' due to the lack of recovery from not taking their breaks. There should be a daily audit on whether staff had taken their breaks, and why not, and implement immediate changes to...

From the current NHS method - "French leadership style tends to be autocratic and paternalistic. For the French the reputation of the organisation, as well as the social and political goals come first over immediate obtainable objectives. Due to the consolidated power in the CEO, opinions of the middle management falls on deaf ears." To have a more effective and efficient NHS, could try adopting the leadership style where - "Japanese executives have great power... and have little...

The NHS Trusts are under the illusion that the business management model is the holy grail of running an effective service. In practice this means the dedicated graduate profession of critical clinical front-line staff i:e the nurses - are expected to do "more with less" as par business parlance. "...Excessive administration burden, Nursing staff shortages and sub-optimal staff retention. The...(transformation) of the workforce - the move away from a full-time workforce to that of part-time...
