Taking the dis out of disability

Alerting people to the forthcoming Workforce Disability Equality Standard - which will be launched in early 2019 by NHS England and place a requirement on NHS trusts and providers to assess the extent to which the experiences of their disabled staff differ from the experiences of their non-disabled staff. This standard will be similar to the WRES - which was launched in 2015 - but will have specific elements which staff with disabilities have highlighted as important to them. Good idea, the needs of disabled (mental as well as physical) health workers should be highlighted and compassionately understood by all health workers from 'board to floor.'

Hi Paul, thanks for sharing the new framework. Do you know of any teams or employers who will be championing this?

Hi Amy. Yes - plenty of them! What’s the particular angle you’re interested in? I can then direct you to some appropriate people. BW. Paul.

Any - we love hearing about good/great practice. It would be lovely if they'd consider getting involved in the discussion or write a blog so others can get inspiration.
