Change the grievance process

What would you like to happen to help you work without fear of bullying, discrimination or violence?

Having recently announced my pregnancy at work, i have since been directly discriminated against and am too scared to raise a grievance because I dont want to meet with the manager who discriminated against me (current procedure means you have to informally meet with them as the first step of the grievance process). It would be great if you could raise a grievance and the person involved could be reprimanded without you having to be involved. People are scared to raise grievances because they don't want to 'rock the boat'

That is awful Abbie, but I know what you mean about the current procedures. They are heavily weighted for the employer. I am being bullied by the direct manager that I work for, in a sly, almost underhanded way and always when there isn't anyone else around. But as he is a Band 8+, I know if I was to put a grievance in, it would be me that is moved, which I don't find fair.
I have applied to be our Speak Out Safely Champion in the Trust where I work, but I know as a Band 4, I wont get it. Things like that are always given to higher bandings, rather than people who can really make a difference.
